The European Official Journal published the EXECUTION REGULATION (EU) 2022/996 OF THE COMMISSION on June 14, 2022, which contains rules for verifying the criteria for sustainability and for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the requirements of the criteria that define low-risk of indirect change of the intended use of the lands. The Execution regulation implements the provisions of art. 30 paragraph 8 of the RED II directive (EU 2018/2001). Furthermore, the sustainability criteria for biofuels and bioliquids produced from palm oil are established. We remind that starting from 2023; the RED II directive provides some limitations on using palm oil. It is published in the European Official Journal, COMMISSION EXECUTIVE REGULATION (EU) 2022/996 of June 14, 2022 on rules for verifying sustainability and greenhouse gas emission reduction criteria and criteria defining low risk of indirect land use change implementing the provisions of Article 30 paragraph 8 of the RED II Directive (EU 2018/2001). Sustainability criteria for biofuels and bioliquids produced from palm oil are also established.
