ISCC Plus Certification
Certification under the scheme ISCC PLUS promotes the circular economy and the bioeconomy, and enables the sustainability and traceability of certified materials to be demonstrated, involving all elements of the production chain (from the origin of raw materials to the consumer) through third-party verification conducted by accredited Certification Bodies.
More and more companies are aiming to demonstrate their commitment to an environmentally and socially responsible and sustainable production process by replacing virgin fossil raw materials with more sustainable raw materials of organic origin free from deforestation or recycled raw materials that promote the circular economy.
To whom Certification
ISCC Plus applies.
Materials in the following categories can be certified under the ISCC PLUS scheme:
- Bio: That is, derived from virgin biomass (corn, cotton, sugarcane, etc.).
- Bio-Circular: Deriving residues of biological origin (waste cooking oil (UCO), forest residues, straw, tall oil pitch, etc.);
- Circular: For recyclable materials of non-organic origin (Mixed plastic waste, textile waste etc.).
- Renewable-energy-derived.
The ISCC Plus Certification Process
The certificate ISCC PLUS is valid for 12 months.
The audit process consists of the stages:
- Initial audit: Comprehensive verification of the compliance of the management system with ISCC PLUS requirements;
- Re-certification audit: To be carried out within 12 months of certificate issuance.
Through this certification scheme it is possible to make sustainability claims, as well as affix the ISCC PLUS logo to one’s product, to communicate the ‘membership in the scheme and the sustainability of the materials managed by the company.
