The last two Gran Turismo – Sprint races were held at Mugello this past weekend, with the final on Sunday, October 23.<\/p>\n
Taking part in the first stint of the race starting with a flying start from the third box was Guidetti’s partner Leonardo Moncini. Tensions were very high as the pair after race 1 were within two lengths of the professional pair Glock and Klingmann. <\/p>\n
Ten minutes after the opening of the driver change window, Moncini began to find the first lapped cars on the track and attempted, thus, to overtake the Lamborghini. Klingmann and Middleton were among the first to return to the pits to make the driver change, while Moncini continued his run thus moving into second position. On the Honda 55’s return to the pits, a yellow flag was declared due to the presence of some debris from a car in Turn 1; so Moncini handed the cockpit over to Guidetti, who, thanks to the yellow flag, did not lose precious seconds for the climb to the title. <\/p>\n
Ten minutes from the end of race 2, the safety car came back on and Guidetti started pushing his Honda to show his skills. From the beginning it was noticeable that the young driver did not want to settle for second place; so he began to battle trying to overtake. Until at one point, on the grid straight, as if to say goodbye to his pit, Guidetti, darted ahead of the Audi and took first place. <\/p>\n
With one minute to go plus one lap, the safety car came back in and allowed Jacopo Guidetti to take the lap of honor before he was able to scream with happiness and graduate as Italian Gran Turismo – Sprint Champion.<\/p>\n
The entire EtaCarinae team was physically present in the pits cheering for Jacopo and immensely rejoiced in the victory along with him.<\/p>\n
Now Guidetti will be back in action for the third round of the Thailand Super Series season where, we are sure, he will again bring his great talent to bear.<\/p>\n
